We collect only the data needed to provide chat, media attachments, notifications, and account features.

Data we collect

• Account data: username/display name and identifiers from authentication (Cognito).
• Chat content: messages you send and metadata (timestamps, conversation ids).
• Media: images/videos/files you upload as message attachments and avatar images.
• Audio: voice clips you record and audio files you upload as message attachments (plus related metadata like timestamps and filenames).
• Push tokens: device push token for direct message notifications.

How we use data

• Provide messaging features (send/receive, edit/delete your messages, reactions).
• Provide blocking and safety features (blocklist, report/flag).
• Provide direct message notifications (push tokens).

Microphone access

We request microphone access only when you choose to record a voice clip. You can deny microphone permission, and you can change permissions later in your device settings.

Search

When you use in-app search (for example, searching for channels), we send your search query to our servers to return results.

AI features

If you use the AI helper features, we may send message history and optional attachment thumbnails (images and video thumbnails) to OpenAI to generate responses or summaries. Use of this feature is optional and only occurs when you choose to use the AI features.

Note: audio attachments and voice clips are not sent to the AI provider by these features.

Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We may share data with service providers needed to operate the app (e.g., hosting, storage, authentication, notifications, AI provider if used).

Data retention

We keep account and content data until you delete it, delete your account, or as needed for safety/legal reasons. Some content may remain visible to other users (for example, messages already delivered) unless removed.
